Google feels steam for Galaxy brand

Wednesday 3 April 2013

Google is in huge pressure under the Galaxy brand’s increasing popularity. Samsung is taking Google to the world, where Droid will be back-bencher & Samsung leading the smartphone industry in all flavour.

A bit confused? Galaxy is using Google’s OS Android, then how can Google feel steam with Galaxy’s popularity? Is it not increasing Google’s value alongwith? Seems so. But the power of authority says another word. Let me explain this…

Galaxy brand is a boom in the smartphone market. It not only outranked Apple iphones  from the top in market-share, but almost grab the majority of Android devices. In 2012, Samsung alone hold 42% of the whole Android market. And with Galaxy S4 knocking at the door, the percentage may cross half-stage mark within 3rd quarter of 2013. This unthinkable success gives Samsung the power of authority to bid Google for it.

Google was launched with the theme of egalitarian. But the number has forced to concentrate on Samsung , and the license to go wild with the OS. So far, Google has maintained control over device-maker by holding its own closed-source Google apps hostage. But when a single brand takes over the majority of a platform, I doubt Samsung can take part in Android’s vision and decision making processes. The Galaxy brand has overtaken the droid band. Samsung is crushing other Android OEMs, and Google has no other option but to wait & watch it.

Now the final question comes, can Google make a way out to keep it’s ultimate authority over Android. Or Samsung has proven its worth to take part in Android’s core decision? Let’s see what Google does to keep Android as its sole part…

HTC ‘FIRST’ Facebook phone --- leaked

HTC ‘FIRST’ Facebook phone is leaked before its presentation day. Facebook was to reveal this phone on 4th April with invitation ‘Come see our new home in Android’.

@eveleaks posted the image of this Facebook-centric smartphone in its twitter account.
It also posted another picture of the alleged HTC ‘FIRST’ on Weibo. There it shows that this phone may come in different colours.

Earlier speculation was that this phone may be named as HTC ‘MYST’. According to the available image, this phone may come in rectangular shape, with curved borders, having 3 capacitive buttons in the front. The screen may come in 4.3inch long with 720p display. This phone will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor along with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. However user may not have the benefit of external micro SD card slot.

The phone will come with Android v4.1(Jelly-bean) along with a layer of HTC Sense 4.5. The handset will also offer deep integration with Facebook. HTC FIRST is also likely to come with 5 Mega-pixel Rear camera & 1.6Mega-pixel Front camera. From the spec available, it looks that this phone not going to be a high-end device. There was no word regarding the price of this device.

This is not the first time that HTC and Facebook teamed up to introduce a Facebook-centric smartphone. Earlier in 2011, HTC ChaCha and HTC Salsa were two more names. Where HTC ChaCha was priced around 16,000 INR, HTC Salsa was a bit higher side-22,000 INR.

Lets wait if HTC & Facebook can provide us with a better gadget this time around…
